Volunteer firefighter killed in Louisa crash, sources say

LOUISA COUNTY, Va. -- A volunteer firefighter is dead after a single-vehicle crash in Louisa County Wednesday afternoon, according to police sources.

Sources tell CBS 6 the teen ran off the road while traveling on Route 522 and struck a tree. The car then burst into flames.

The teen was taken to VCU Medical Center, where he later died. Police have not released the name of the victim at this time.

Sources say the teen worked for the Holly Grove volunteer Fire Department in Bumpass. The department said they don't have a comment at this time out of respect for the victim's family.
