RICHMOND, Va. -- Two germ zapping robots are cleaning operating rooms at McGuire VA Medical Center in south Richmond. McGuire is the first hospital in the region to use the XENEX germ zapping robots, a hospital spokesperson said.
"The robot uses pulsed xenon (an environmentally-friendly inert gas) to create UV light and runs in a five-minute disinfection cycle," a hospital spokeswoman said.
The robot can combat germs that cause norovirus, C.diff, ebola and anthrax.
