CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- More than an inch of rain fell across parts of Central Virginia Monday into Tuesday. All that rain has created high water situations on some area roads.

High water was reported along the 3700 block and 5600 block of Otterdale Road in Chesterfield County at 6 a.m. Tuesday.

No areas of high water were reported in Henrico and Richmond at this time.

Emergency officials would like to remind drivers not to drive through high water areas.

"The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report that over half of all flood-related drownings occur when a vehicle is driven into hazardous flood water," the National Weather Service said. "It takes just 12 inches of rushing water to carry away a small car, while 2 feet of rushing water can carry away most vehicles. It is NEVER safe to drive or walk into flood waters."
