Richmond police search for hit and run driver who struck cyclist

RICHMOND, Va. –  Richmond police are searching for a hit and run driver who struck a cyclist on Monday afternoon.

At approximately 12:38 p.m., officers were called to the intersection of East Brookland Park Boulevard and Richmond-Henrico Turnpike for a report of a hit and run accident.

A bicyclist riding west along East Brookland Park Boulevard was struck when a vehicle traveling southbound on the Richmond-Henrico Turnpike crossed the intersection.

The cyclist was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The vehicle, which is believed to be a large burgundy-colored SUV, has not been located at this time.

Sharrows mark Brookland Park Boulevard, in both directions, as an indication to drivers that cyclists will share the lane.
