CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Hundreds of runners and walkers did not let a little rain stop them from raising money for cancer research Sunday at Pocahontas State Park.

Folks laced up their sneakers for the first ever Run 4 Massey 5K/Run Walk.

Tyler Harris, a teen at L.C. Bird High School, said he started the event to make a difference in the world.

“It all started as a school project,” Harris said. “It’s called the Change The World Project, but this just triggered this idea of inspiration to create this huge event. I just really went big… I don’t do it for the project anymore, I do it for the cause.”

Harris said he came very close to his goal of raising over $2,000.

Massey organizers heralded the event as a big success.
