Warrior race raises funds for Virginia War Memorial

RICHMOND, Va. – The 5K Run/Walk to Remember honored members of the military Saturday morning in Richmond.

The race raised money for educational programs at the Virginia War Memorial.

Organizers said the race is special for Richmond.

“It’s a fundraiser for the Virginia War Memorial Foundation and it’s a great time,” Virginia War Memorial Director of Marketing and Communication Jeb Hockman said. “We start here at the war memorial, run up through Oregon Hill, up through Hollywood Cemetery. And it’s the only one in Richmond where you actually civilians get to actually run with actual real troops who will be running in formation from Fort Lee.”

This was the fifth year for the event.
