RICHMOND, Va. -- Another local movie house will be honoring Prince with two showings of his cult classic "Purple Rain."

The historic Byrd Theatre in Carytown will screen the movie Wednesday, April 27 at 9:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 30 at midnight.

"This legendary rock musical and semi-autobiographical, even prophetic, story of Prince's rise to super stardom opened on July 27, 1984. One month later, Prince Roger Nelson became the first artist to ever have the top movie, album, and single at the same time," reads a post on the theatre's Facebook page.

Tickets will only be available at the door 30 minutes before the movie starts.

Additionally, theatre reps asked that those attending wear purple to honor the legendary icon.

The Byrd Theatre is located at 2908 W. Cary Street in Richmond.

The Goochland Drive-In Theater will also screen the film on Wednesday, April 27 and Thursday, April 28 at 8:05 p.m.

Tickets are $6 for adults and $2 for children.

Attendees are advised to arrived early and don Prince-inspired attire.

Additionally, the drive-in plans to show a special retro pre-show honoring the artist.

The Ashland Theater showed the film on Saturday.

AMC Theatres also announced the film will return to the big screen for a select run from April 23 to April 28.
