RICHMOND, Va. -- Occasional showers and thunderstorms Friday into Friday night produced much-needed rainfall across the viewing area. Richmond International Airport picked up about a third of an inch of rain by 5 p.m., and the total as of 11:59 p.m. was 0.60". This marks the heaviest daily rainfall total since February 24, which was when we had the severe storms and tornado outbreak.
This rain was very beneficial, and it managed to make up for some of the rainfall deficits we had for the month and since March 1.
There will be some scattered showers around through Saturday afternoon, but rainfall totals will be much lighter and more scattered than Friday's rainfall. Our next chance of rain will come in the form of thunderstorms late Tuesday, followed by a few scattered storms possible Thursday and Friday. As of now, it looks like most of next weekend will be dry, with just the chance of a shower late Sunday.
