This weekend offers many opportunities to get outside and enjoy Richmond!

  1. Richmond Longest Running Earth Day Festival at The Great Shiplock Park in Shockoe Bottom on the River Front Saturday, April 23, 11am – 5pm.

Earth-friendly art, exhibits & activities, Riverfront activities: paddleboards, kayaks, fishing, Children’s area with hands on art, educational activities and seedling giveaways, Exhibits and activities along Kanawha Canal and Virginia Capital Trail, Bike Valet courtesy of Richmond 2015. There will be free shuttle service between the 17th Street Farmers Market and Great Shiplock Park from 10:30am – 5:30pm, free pedicab rides from Ride Spoken 4 will also be available from 10am – 5pm. free and open to the public. 2. Style Weekly celebrates its Earth Day Festival in Manchester, Saturday, April 23, noon – 7pm, is free and family friendly with local music, a gear swap, food trucks, beer, kids’ art and activities and produce from local farmers’ markets. For details visit styleweekly.com/rvaearthday.

3. Historic Garden Club of Virginia – 83rd Annual Historic Garden Week, Experience the Art of Gardening. Statewide April 23- April 30.

4. Dogwood Wine Festival Saturday, April 23rd from 11am – 6pm at Reynolds Building Lot, 6641 West Broad Street, sponsored by Wine for Cures, an all-volunteer cancer awareness and projects fundraising organization. 5. Spring Bloom at Kings Dominion

In celebration of the warmer weather, Kings Dominion has come alive with the planting of thousands of beautiful flowers. This year, the floral makeover is accompanied by a brand new park menu. Visitors can take their taste buds all over the world with new food stations featuring international food items. Kings Dominion is located at 16000 Theme Park Way in Doswell. 6. RVA Street Art Festival

The third event will be held at and around the old Southern States silos in Manchester, at 1 Manchester Road. On April 21 -24. Friday, 4 – 7 p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Sunday noon to 5 p.m.

Future events:

8th Annual French Food Festival, Friday and Saturday, April 29 -30.  On Friday, 4:30 – 9:30 p.m. and Saturday 11am – 9pm, benefiting the Little Sisters of the Poor on the grounds of the Little Sisters of the Poor, 1503 Michaels Road.
