WASHINGTON DC. – Redskins fans across the country showed their generosity this week by helping out one of the team’s biggest fans during his time of need.

Most Redskins are probably familiar with Chief Zee or Zema Williams, who is considered the unofficial team mascot and was voted biggest Redskins fan by the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000.

Last Friday, a GoFundMe page was set up saying, Chief Zee would be evicted on April 18, if he didn’t receive help. The post says the Redskins superfan has been living off a fixed income and his social security checks barely covered his rent and supplies.

The goal of the page was $2,000 to cover his rent for the next two months.

Over four days Redskins fans showed their support by raising $5,100. An update Tuesday night confirmed Redskins nation was able to save Chief Zee from eviction:

“We were able to avoid Chief Zee’s eviction thanks to all of you. Chief will have a special video message thank you all personally soon. He appreciates each and every one of you all. This is another example of why Redskins Nation is the absolute best.”

While some criticized Chief Zee for attending games and not being able to afford his rent, according to the Washington post, Redskins owner Daniel Snyder pays for his admission to Redskins games.
