CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Police apprehended the man who climbed up a tree in Sunset Memorial Park after being surrounded by police for two hours.

Police said the man surrendered peacefully to authorities.

The man, according to police, climbed the tree in the Chester cemetery after shoplifting from a nearby Kohl's department store.

The man threatened a loss prevention officer at the store before running out the of West Hundred Road business.

It is unclear whether the man had a weapon.
