CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. -- The family of a Caroline County grandfather and grandson who drowned over the weekend is remembering the pair for their close bond.

“He loved him so much. He said I’d die for you, he loved him so much,” said Boone Clark’s wife Margorie Clark.

Margorie Clark said her husband of 40 years, Boone, may have died for their 4-year-old grandson who was always by their side.

“He’d hug me and kiss me and say I love you so much. He say how much you love me? I say I love you with all my little heart,” said Clark.

Margorie would hug her youngest grandbaby Jaylen for the last time Saturday, when left with his Pop Pop to try out his new fishing pole.

"About three, I called. I didn’t get no answer and I kept calling,” said Clark.

Margorie drove to a private pond not far from her house after trying to reach her husband for three hours. She saw his truck and the overturned boat and knew something was terribly wrong.

“I said please God don’t let them be here,” said Clark.

Her husband and grandson were missing, their bodies were later recovered in the pond Sunday morning.

"They said Jaylen had two little scars up here. I don’t know if he fell off the boat and he tried to save him,” said Clark.

This is the second child Margorie’s daughter Tosha will bury. Jaylen’s brother died of sudden infant death syndrome.

“When her first baby died I thought she wasn’t going to make it. She went through so much with her first baby and then this happened last night she was hollering and hooting so bad,” said Clark.

“You can’t describe the loss, there is no way to describe it,” said Boone’s best friend, William Darnell Johnson.

Sheriff Tony Lippa from the Caroline County Sheriff's Office said the body of 4-year-old Jaylen E. Stewart was found around 12:15 a.m. Sunday. After resuming the search at 8 a.m. Sunday morning, dive teams recovered the body of Stewart's grandfather, 73-year-old Alvin "Boone" Clark, at 11:15 a.m.

Investigators said Clark and Stewart were supposed to be fishing, but that their boat was found capsized.

The Caroline County Sheriff's Office is asking that you keep the family of Alvin "Boone" Clark and Jaylen Stewart in your thoughts and prayers.
