RICHMOND, Va. — Dave Luebke, who owned and operated West End comic book store Dave’s Comics for more than 30 years, died Saturday.

The 61-year-old store owner passed due to complications from heart disease, according to his online obituary.

“He began his career as a comic book collector and seller during his teens. In the early 1970s, Dave became the first dealer to hold comic book conventions in Richmond,” his obituary read. “He moved his operation to a brick and mortar store front in the Village Shopping Center in 1982. He had an absolute loyalty and devotion to his friends — whether they wanted the ‘help’or not. He loved people and he loved to entertain them. Dave brought out the kid in people and charmed many children over the years.”

Luebke will be buried Monday at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked contributions be made to Jewish Family Services.
