CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Police are investigating after a driver sustained serious injuries in a single-vehicle motorcycle accident Saturday morning.

The accident occurred on the 4100 block of Woolridge Road a little before noon. Police say the motorcycle was traveling west when the driver lost control and veered off the road into the woods.

The male driver was thrown from the motorcycle and has been taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. He is currently in critical condition.

Crash team units are on scene and have closed the westbound lanes on Woolridge Road starting at the Genito Road intersection. Police say they expect the road to be closed for about an hour or so.

This is a developing story.
