RICHMOND, Va. — One of the most rocking, shocking bands in history will visit Richmond as part of their “Freedom to Rock” tour, the group announced Friday. KISS will visit over 35 cities nationwide as part of the tour, which kicks off on July 7, in Boise, Idaho.

The rockers visit the Richmond Coliseum on Sept. 9, near the end of their big tour — although the band said they plan to announce more dates.

The last time the rockers visited Richmond, was June 6, 2000, according to online records. They sold 7,019 out of 8,000 tickets, according to their website, which is 87% of tickets sales.

Recording Artist Caleb Johnson (American Idol Season 13 winner) will open for KISS for shows July 7 to August 10 while the All-Star rock band THE DEAD DAISIES will open for KISS for shows August 10 to Sept. 10.

Tickets are available beginning at 10  a.m. on Friday, April 15 at the Richmond Coliseum’s SweetFrog Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 800-745-3000 or http://www.ticketmaster.com. Prices range from $39.50 to $125 (plus fees).

Sept. 9 is when the Wizard World Comic Con begins its three-day run at the nearby Greater Richmond Convention Center.
