Wreck closes I-95 north near Ashland, backs up traffic for miles

I-95 north in Hanover County (VDOT cam as of 6:55 p.m.)

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. — An accident closed I-95 north and backed up traffic for miles in Hanover County Sunday evening.

VDOT reported all northbound lanes of the interstate near mile marker 91 just south of Ashland were shutdown.

Officials said traffic was able to get by on the right shoulder.

By 7:20, all lanes had reopened. However, a five-mile northbound backup and a four-mile backup southbound remained.
