PORTLAND, Ore. — American soccer star Abby Wambach, who recently retired, was arrested early Sunday on a driving under the influence charge in Portland, Oregon.
Wambach, 35, was arrested shortly after 2 a.m., according to the Multnomah County Jail in Portland. She was released on her own recognizance.
Wambach has been among the most-decorated players in women’s soccer.
In a career spanning 14 years, Wambach amassed two Olympic gold medals, one World Cup, a FIFA World Player of the Year award and six U.S. Soccer Athlete of the Year crowns.
