HANOVER COUNTY, Va. --Hundreds of volunteers along with the Farrington Fire Department searched Saturday for a 37-year-old Henrico County man missing since St. Patrick's Day.

The family of Rob Havey III  and asking for the community’s help and organized a ground search Saturday.

The group gathered at the old Farrington fire house at 12300 Farrington Road in Ashland at 12 p.m.

Havey's family said the primary focus of Saturday’s search was to help find Havey's pickup truck.

"Rob was a volunteer firefighter here,” Teresa Havey, Rob’s mother said. “His nickname was ‘Shadow’ because he shadowed the chief here and the chief was out organizing the search today as well as the gentlemen that worked with Rob who knew him 20 years ago. So this is Rob’s second home. If we couldn’t find Rob we need to ride up here. This is a special place to all of us and I hope this is a special place that brings him back to us.”

The group asked for volunteers who are prepared to put boots on the ground, in addition to firefighters and any other fire stations in the area who would like to help.

There is also a special need for those who are open to the use of their own 4WD vehicle or ATV to assist in the search to find Havey.

Family members thanked the public for helping share the story.

Havey was last seen March 17 when he walked out of his workplace, along the 6600 block of West Broad Street at about 11 a.m.

Police said Havey was driving a 2005 bronze/fire Ford F-150 with a Virginia license of KER-7365.

He is described as a 5’9” and 205 pound white man with brown hair and hazel eyes.

Earlier this week, the family offered a $5,000 reward to anyone who provides information which leads to Havey or his vehicle's whereabouts.

The family said if you having any questions about the search, contact Art Tate at 804-317-0416. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Havey is asked to call Henrico Police at 804-501-5000.
