Looking for a Mother’s Day gift? Here’s an idea that will keep on giving.

Dalton Ross, a 22-year-old student from Nashville, recently moved to London to study abroad. After getting settled in his new dorm, he realized he hadn’t spoke to his mom, Susan Talley, in awhile. Instead of sending her some flowers or a video message, he decided to send her something more memorable.

“So I thought it would be funny if she checked her mail one day and a giant cutout of me with a goofy smile was there waiting for her,” Ross told CNN.

Last month, he ordered the 5-foot-2 dimensional cutout from Fathead, an online company that specializes in life-sized graphic printing. But what his mom did next with the cardboard version of him is not what he expected.

At first, Talley was had propped “Flat Dalton” in the hallway, but that didn’t last long.

“Every time I rounded the corner of that part of the house, it would scare the living daylights out of me,” Talley told CNN. Inspired by her son’s sense of humor, she decided since he was that realistic, he needed to hang out with her in her everyday life.

Talley took her cardboard son with her around town and of course snapped photos of the adventures.

They went to a basketball game and cheered on his little brother.

His mom even set him up on a date with Barbie.

And tucked him into bed.

When Ross found out all the adventures his cardboard twin was having in the States, he says he was surprised and very amused.

“It’s hilarious to imagine her carrying around a cardboard version of me to busy places,” said Ross. His mom posts a new photo on Facebook of the adventures “Flat Dalton” is on about every three days.

On his latest outing, his mom took him to the dentist to make sure he didn’t have any cavities.

If you are enjoying the bright lights around Nashville and see “Flat Dalton” around town, be sure to stop and snap a picture with him.
