RICHMOND, Va. -- An approaching cold front will trigger widely scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon into this evening. Isolated storms may be strong with high wind gusts and some hail.

It will be very warm and windy with highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s.  Winds will gust above 30 mph throughout the day, but some stronger gusts will occur during thunderstorms.

A few strong to severe thunderstorms are possible, with the best chance south and southeast of Richmond.  The primary threat will be damaging wind gusts of 60+ mph.  Tornado risk is fairly low, but not zero.
