1 person ejected in wreck that closed I-95 north in Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. – One person was transported to the hospital after being ejected during a two-vehicle crash that backed up for miles on I-95 north in Chesterfield County Tuesday afternoon.

The crash, which happened around 2 p.m. near the exit for Route 10 (W. Hundred Road), closed all of the interstate’s northbound lanes. The southbound left lane and shoulder were also closed.

Sgt. Steve Vick with Virginia State Police said one person was ejected in the wreck. That victim was taken to VCU Medical Center with injuries described as serious and life-threatening.

All lanes had reopened by 3:30 p.m., but a six-mile backup remained. Drivers were warned to expect residual delays.
