CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Police searched a Chesterfield neighborhood Monday night for two suspects after a car crashed at Mason Crest Drive and Beulah Road. One of the suspects was taken into custody. A second remained on the loose as of 11:30 p.m.

The situation began at about 10 p.m., when a Virginia State Police Trooper attempted to stop a speeding car on Chippenham Parkway. The car, a silver Ford Fusion, was traveling over 80 mph in a 55 mph zone, police said.

"The vehicle failed to stop for the Troopers emergency equipment that was activated. The vehicle eluded the Trooper and was later reported to have crashed," Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. Steve Vick said. "After the vehicle crashed two subjects fled on foot, at this time one subject is in custody in the 4600 block of Mason Crest Drive. Chesterfield County Police and State Police are still searching for a second suspect."

Jayvonte Tre'mon Taylor of Richmond was charged with resisting arrest, possession of Schedule 1 or 2 drug, and possession of marijuana. Officials said additional charges are pending.
