HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- A Henrico man has been charged for the murder of his parents in a Henrico subdivision on Easter Sunday.
Henrico Police said that they found Martha B. Brissette, age 56, and her husband Henry J. Brissette III, age 59, dead from gunshot wounds in the 8300 block of Forge Road.
Police were alerted to a suspicious situation around 9:34 p.m. on Sunday, March 27.
William Roy Brissette, age 22, has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
He is currently being held in the Henrico County Jail.
Martha Brissette, a lawyer, previously served in the Virginia office of Attorney General. She was currently employed as a policy analyst by the State Board of Elections.
Neighbors were shocked by the crime, and said the Brissettes were hard working, kind individuals who did their best to provide for their children.
"I watched the kids grow up," said a neighbor. "I don't know what happened to make him do something like that."
Neighbors tell CBS 6 William lived at the Forge Road home with his parents.
“It's just a sad situation I don't know exactly what to say about it…It's just horrible,” said another neighbor.
William Brissette's criminal record in Henrico, according to court records, dates back to 2013. He had several charges for marijuana distribution, and one for stalking/fear of death that was nolle prosse.
William Brissette appeared in court via video conference Monday morning.
Henrico commonwealth’s attorney Shannon Taylor said they were made aware that Henrico Mental Health had been involved with the suspect in the past.
Taylor said police had also been called to the home on several occasions involving William Brissette.
