ASHLAND, Va. – A disabled train made the road impassable for approximately five hours for several Ashland residents.

Residents who contacted CBS 6 said that the train on the tracks blocked travel at Gwathmey Church Road and South Center Road. There is only one way to get in and out of that specific area, and several homes were affected, residents said.

The train has been there since 3:30 p.m., and as of 5:30 p.m., Hanover officials told CBS 6 that the train could be there an additional three to four hours, according to CSX.

CSX said that they are waiting for a crew, who are en route, to move the train but that it won’t be until at least 9 p.m. Saturday. The crew arrived earlier than anticipated, and the train began moving at 8:20 p.m.

Hanover County Sheriff’s Office monitored the situation.
