Family displaced after fire rips through Chesterfield County home

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Chesterfield fire crews responded to a house fire in the 21100 block of Winfree Avenue in the Ettrick area Wednesday night.

A witness tell CBS 6 fire shot out the roof of the two-story home and crews were working on the second story to put out the blaze. The witness said the family that lives in the home and their animals were uninjured.

CField house fireFire officials tell CBS 6 the call for a house fire came in around 9:30 p.m. Crews arrived to the scene with heavy smoke coming out the home. The fire was marked under control around 10:45 p.m. The home suffered extensive roof damage.

No one was at home at the time of the fire and there were no reported injuries. The family has been displaced and will spend the night with relatives.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but officials don't suspect foul play.
