GREENSVILLE, S.C. — Fellow law enforcement officers gathered to pray and pay their respects to fallen Greenville police Officer Allen Jacobs Monday morning.
Jacobs was shot and killed by a teen gang member on Friday, according to police Chief Ken Miller.
Jacobs’ patrol car was parked along Stone Avenue behind the Greenville County Law Enforcement Center and a memorial has grown around the vehicle.
Just before 7 a.m. a large group of Greenville County deputies gathered around the vehicle to pray.
About an hour later, a group of ambulances arrives and EMS workers paid their respects and shared a prayer in memory of the fallen policeman, veteran, husband and father.
A public memorial service will be held Tuesday at Cleveland Park in tribute to the fallen officer. Funeral services will be on Thursday.
