RICHMOND, Va. -- A storm system will continue to impact the Mid-Atlantic states through early Monday morning. For much of our area, it will be primarily rain, but there could be a bit of wet snow at the end.
The storm will track east of Virginia throughout the day. As the storm moves north along the coast, it will wrap colder air into Virginia, particularly aloft. This will help the rain transition to some wet snow as an upper level disturbance moves through late tonight into very early Monday morning.
The lower atmosphere will have a difficult time getting cold enough for any major wintry weather to occur, and the recent warm weather and ground temperatures will limit accumulations.
However, some of us may wake up to a coating on the grass early Monday morning.
Oddly enough, today is the beginning of astronomical spring, and it will feature some of our coldest high temperatures in about two weeks.
Morning lows Monday and Tuesday will be near or below freezing for most areas away from the coast. Precautions should be taken in advance if anything delicate has been planted thus far. Warmer temperatures will return as the week progresses.
