DOSWELL, Va. -- Kings Dominion showed off their latest attraction Friday as they prepare to open for the 2016 season.
Delirium is a powerful, spinning pendulum, where riders soar to a height of 115 feet at a maximum arc angle of 120 degrees. The new ride holds 40 riders, strapped into their seats, facing outward on a giant ring.
The ride starts by slowly swinging back and forth while the ring starts to rotate. The ride quickly gains momentum as riders are get a swirling view of the park while experiencing gravity defying hang time.
Kings Dominion said Delirium is for all ages but you must be at least 54 inches of 4 feet 5 inches tall.
Construction of the new ride began in fall of 2015 in the Candy Apple Grove section of the park.
Additional upgrades to Candy Apple Grove include a renovated restroom complex and the addition of a shaded garden seating area.
Kings Dominion opens to the public on Friday, March 25.
