RALEIGH, Va. – University of Virginia men’s basketball head coach Tony Bennett collapsed on the court near the end of the first half, in his team’s opening NCAA tournament game against No. 16 seed Hampton Pirates, in Raleigh, N.C.
Bennett collapsed and was quickly escorted to the bench, sitting out the last minute of the game as his top-seeded team battled the Pirates.

“I feel fine. I think I was just crouched down and was a little dehydrated and I blacked out a little bit … but I’m okay,” Bennett told a truTV commentator going back into the second half. “I was crouched down and I think the blood went to my head too fast.”
At the half, he was taken to the locker room for treatment.
Going into the half, the Cavaliers led the Pirates 40 -21.
Anthony Gill, UVa forward, had 11 points and guard London Perrante had 10.
