RICHMOND, Va.  — The dry and warmer conditions of the past few days have been nice for outdoor activities, but they have also been a recipe for outdoor fire danger.

Sunshine and warm conditions have dried out the grass and brush across the area.  A series of cold fronts have brought slight drops in temperature, but they have also been bringing very dry air into the region.  The afternoon relative humidity for Thursday and Friday will be range 15% to 25%.    As the fronts pass through, they cause some occasional wind gusts.  These factors all combine to increase the outdoor fire danger.

Any outdoor fires, sparks or embers will spread rapidly, especially during gusty winds.  Open burning is prohibited before 4 p.m. each day through April 30th.
