RICHMOND, Va. — The human remains found on Riverside Drive, along the James River, earlier this month were that of a 33 to 49-year-old black man, according to Richmond Police. The Chief Medical Examiner determined the remains, found the afternoon of March 7 along the 5000 block of Riverside Drive , had been there for “an extended period of time.”
“The individual is believed to have been a black male, age 33-49, standing 5’9” to 6’3” tall. He had several previously healed bone fractures on the leg, ribs and skull,” a Richmond Police spokesman said. “These fractures may have caused him to walk with a limp and suffer hearing loss in the left ear. There was also extensive tooth loss believed to result from poor oral hygiene.”
Some clothing was also found with the remains. Richmond Police released images of the clothing (or examples of similar clothing) with the hopes someone would recognize them.
Anyone who can help police with this investigation was asked to call Major Crimes Detective Victoria Griffith-Matko at 804-646-3912 or Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
