Driver who fatally struck 57-year-old Chesterfield pedestrian had no license

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. – Police identified the pedestrian and driver involved in the fatal accident in Chesterfield County Saturday evening.

Police said a Doge Dart struck Duncan S. Smyly, 57,  who was walking along the 7200 block of Midlothian Turnpike not far from Chippenham Parkway around 7 p.m. Saturday.

Police said the victim died at the scene. He was transported to Chippenham Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Dodge Dart, Cindy Ayala Jimenez, 31, of North Carolina, was issued a summons for driving without a license. Jimenez did not leave the scene, according to police.

The incident remains under investigation.
