Woman hospitalized after Richmond apartment fire

RICHMOND, Va. -- A woman was taken to the hospital after an apartment fire in the 2600 block of Idlewood Ave. Thursday evening.

Richmond Fire spokesman Lt. Chris Armstrong said the call for an apartment fire came in at 6:30 p.m. The first crew on scene at 6:34 p.m.

A woman was found outside the residence and treated for smoke inhalation. She was transported to a local hospital. There was no other injuries reported.

Fire officials said the fire started on the second floor of the building. It was marked under control at 6:48 p.m.

There is no word on what caused the fire.
