CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- A driver was charged with making an unsafe lane change after a crash that left one car on top of another at the Powhite Parkway toll plaza, near Midlothian Turnpike, in Chesterfield Thursday morning. At least three lanes of the toll plaza were closed as rescue crews worked to help the people involved in the crash.
"A 2003 Toyota Camry went to change lanes from one toll booth lane to another and struck a 1990 Toyota Celica causing the Celica to come to rest partially on top of the Camry," Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. Steve Vick said. "The driver of the Toyota Camry, Karina Ramirez of North Chesterfield, was transported to Chippenham Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. She was issued a summons for Unsafe Lane Change."
The crash happened at 7:15 a.m. The lanes reopened by 8:30 a.m.
