WEST JORDAN, Utah -- A Utah mom is facing child abuse charges after she allegedly dropped her 8-year-old son off at a hospital with a note saying he was "rude" and she didn't want him anymore, according to KSTU.

The mother left the child at a Utah hospital on February 21, with only the clothes on his back and a note that read:

“This kid is rude and ungovernable! I do not want him in my house at all! I don't think I'm necessarily a bad mother. I got more like overwhelmed."

The mothers name is not being released in order to protect the child's identity. She has been charged with child abandonment and child abuse. If convicted she faces up to six years in prison.

The boy told hospital staff that his mom hit him with a spoon, leaving a bruise on his arm, according to Court documents.

The mom denies those allegations and said she recently separated from her husband. She said she couldn't care for all four of her children and she couldn’t handle her son anymore.

"He was calling me names, he was calling me the B word, he was pulling his pants down in public," said the mom.

The boy has been placed in foster care while the mother and father have since gotten back together. The mom has been visiting her son, and said she wants him back and he wants to come back.
