RICHMOND, Va. -- Two former Mo' Money tax return preparers have pleaded guilty to criminal charges in federal court in Richmond.
Jeremy Blanchard and Erik Pittman, both of of Memphis, Tennessee, admitted to conspiring to defraud the government when they worked at Mo' Money Taxes by helping prepare false tax returns.
The pair were tax preparers for Mo' Money Taxes, which had three locations in Richmond.
Blanchard and Pittman admitted to investigators they filed for inflated and fictitious tax credits, including the Earned Income Credit and the American Opportunity credit, that customers should not have received.
As part of their pleas, the men admitted their actions caused an IRS loss of more than $250,000, but less than $550,000.
They each face eight years in prison and a $500,000 fine when they are sentenced in June.
