PULASKI, Va. — The father whose five-year-old went missing and was later found dead in a septic tank was sentenced to 15 months in prison. Paul Thomas, 32, was sentenced after he entered an Alford Plea in Pulaski County court, WDBJ7 reported.
Noah Thomas’ body was found last March in a tank on his family’s property. The discovery came after four days of intense searching for the child. In his plea, Paul Thomas admitted there was enough evidence to convict him of child abuse and neglect charges.
Thomas was not charged with his son’s death, only for leaving him home alone.
“I know what I did was wrong. I’ve paid a huge price,” Thomas said in court, according to WDBJ7.
He said he left his children home alone while their mother, Ashely White, drove him to work.
White was also convicted of child abuse and neglect. She will be sentenced in May.
