CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — A woman suffered minor injuries after narrowly escaping her car Tuesday, moments before an Amtrak train stuck the vehicle in Chester.
Police said the accident happened at 6:07 p.m. in the 3800 block of Curtis St.
Police said the driver went to cross tracks, became disoriented, she then turned onto the tracks, and then the guardrails came down and closed her in.
Again, she was able to get out of her car just before an Amtrak train struck it. She was taken to a local hospital after complaining of minor injuries.
Police are still investigating the incident.
Curtis Road is back open after closing following the crash.
