CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Police sources tell CBS 6 Chesterfield Police are investigating threatening emails at Matoaca High School Monday evening.

When a CBS 6 crew arrived to the scene, they found at least four police vehicles at the school.

Matoaca High Principal Belinda Merriman sent an email to community members that read:

"I wanted to share with you that we has several police officers onsite this afternoon investigating inappropriate comments sent to the school. Out of an abundance of caution, we may have additional officers at school on Tuesday as they continue to investigate. Please ask your child to report to an administrator anything that they have heard that may appear out of normal. As always, please contact us tomorrow if you have questions."

CBS 6 has contacted Chesterfield County Public Schools for comment, but are waiting to hear back.
