LOS ANGELES — Calm down, Foo Fighters fans. The band’s not breaking up. And lead singer Dave Grohl’s not going solo. Fans had a collective meltdown when the band said it would make a big announcement amid breakup rumors.

Turns out, the big announcement was the band reassuring its fans in a creative, panic-filled spoof video.

The band posted a spoof YouTube video on its social media accounts Wednesday night that ended with the words: “For the millionth time, we’re not breaking up! And nobody’s going (expletive) solo!”

Spoof video

Before the message, band members took fans through a seven-minute video of a fake breakup that included Grohl performing in a solo career.

“I’m holding them back; I’m setting them free. It’s a win-win situation,” Grohl says with a straight face as he discusses his new solo career in the video.

“Those guys get to do their thing, and I get to find myself and be me.”

Justin Bieber?

The video shows other band members using a lot of swear words in reaction to Grohl’s fake solo career. They float around a few names for his replacement, including Justin Bieber and Phil Collins. Then Nick Lachey saunters in, apparently as the new singer.

The video ends with the announcement that there’s no breakup in the works.
