Tucson, AZ (KPHO) — A narcotics detection dog led officers to 5,500 pounds of marijuana hidden in a vehicle at the port facility in Nogales, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers said.

The 29-year-old driver from Nogales, Sonora, Mexico was turned over to ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations.

The drugs, worth $2.75 million, were found within palletized boxes identified as assorted electronic items in a semi-trailer truck.

The seizure happened Wednesday at the Mariposa Commercial Facility as the driver attempted to enter the U.S.

Officers seized the entire shipment.
