HENRICO, Va. — Hermitage High School was on lockdown after a student received a threatening text message, according to a series of messages  from the school principal Andy Armstrong.

The lockdown was initiated just before 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, and was lifted just over an hour later. Students are continuing on with their day.

The original audio message shared with parents, from the principal, is listed below.

“Good Morning, parents. This is Andy Armstrong, principal of Hermitage High School. This morning at approximately 10:15 a.m. we were notified of a threatening text message that was sent to and directed to a student here at Hermitage High school from another student. Although the threatening language was directed to only one student and there was not a threat to any group of students, or to our building, we are currently on lockdown until we locate the student who sent the threatening text message. We do not believe that the student is in the building but we are taking extra measures with the support of Henrico Police to ensure our students and our building are safe. In the meantime, students remain in their classroom and classes continue. I will update everybody as soon as the lockdown is lifted.”
