COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va -- School officials are promising more police Wednesday morning after threatening vandalism was found scribbled on the walls at Colonial Heights High School, which students confirmed to CBS 6.

Lit up crosswalks, buses delivering high school kids, Tuesday seemed like a normal day at the school.

"I have anxiety, so it makes me nervous," said Andrew Daisey, a sophomore at the school.

But a message posted on the school system’s Facebook wall and word of mouth from students suggests it was anything but.

"Someone wrote on a wall that they were going to kill everybody,” Daisey said. “As a student, it concerns me; it makes me nervous.”

To ease concerns, school administrators say they are working with police and that there will be an extra police presence at the school on Wednesday.

“There will be an increased police presence at the high school tomorrow,” principal Kristin Janssen said. “The administrative team is working to get the issue resolved. The High School and authorities are trying to be proactive and ease concerns that may arise. As always, your child’s safety is our top priority.”

"I mean, when it says ‘extra presence,’ that’s a little troubling," said parent Cary Mitchell. Her daughter has two appointments Wednesday so she's not going to school, but Mitchell says the threat is still a concern.

"She's missing, so it works out great, but I have two stepsons that go there, too,” Mitchell said.  “It's very unnerving because you never know in today's world."

The school system hasn't confirmed what the threatening vandalism said or where it was written, but students say it could only have been on one of two places.

"There are cameras in the lunchroom and hallways, so the only place where there isn't, is bathroom or locker room,” said Andrew, who said he was considering staying home.

Police are working to find out who left the threat.
