RICHMOND, Va. -- Nathaniel Bullock, a 26-year-old Army Reservist and father, was killed Monday morning in the parking lot outside The Flats at Ginter Park apartments in Richmond. Bullock lived there with his grandmother.

"[He was a] Great father, great military man," Geneva Johnson, Bullock’s grandmother, said. "He was a high school graduate and was enrolled at J. Sergeant Reynolds."

Bullock and his daughter Natalie posed for a photo at 4:25 Sunday afternoon. Hours later, his life ended and the lives of his loved ones were forever changed.

Bullock was shot in the head, police said. Witnesses reported hearing an argument outside and several shots fired. No information about a suspect has been released by police.

"We need to address this issue in our city and let people know they can't take people’s lives for no reason," Johnson said.

Police sources indicated detectives had strong leads. Family members believed a domestic dispute led to shooting.

"Male, female, whoever did it, justice needs to be served," Bullock’s uncle Louie Wynn said.

Bullock was described as a man’s man, a leader and not a follower, a supervisor at every job he had. He took care of his daughter and two children who were not his own, family said. His daughter was his world, they added.

"God is a forgiving god and so am I," Johnson said.  "I forgive you, but turn yourself in."

Bullock's murder was the 12th homicide in Richmond in 2016. There were two murders at the same time last year.

City leaders walked the Chamberlayne corridor Monday night, trying to engage a community to help stop the bloodshed.
