DAYTONA BEACH, Fl. — Manchester High School graduate Denny Hamlin won the 2016 Daytona 500 Sunday in the closest finish in the history of the race.
Hamlin entered the final lap in fourth place, but made a charge to the front, passing Joe Gibbs Racing teammates Matt Kenseth and Kyle Busch.
The Chesterfield driver then won a head to head duel with Martin Truex Jr., beating him to the finish line by six inches and 0.011 seconds.
