ARRINGTON, Va. — Phish will headline the 2016 Lockn’ Music Festival on Oak Ridge Farm in Arrington, Virginia this summer. The jam band is scheduled to play a pair of two-set shows during the festival which runs August 25 – 28. Other musical acts scheduled to perform include Ween and My Morning Jacket.
“Phish has headlined their own festivals many times, but they have rarely played festivals with other bands performing,” Lockn’ co-founder Peter Shapiro told Rolling Stone. “So this is going to be a big moment for their fans. To get to see Ween play before Phish is the kind of unique musical moment that we created Lockn’ for.”
The Lockin’ announcement came 12 days after Phish announced its 2016 Summer Tour. A tour that did not include a single East Coast stop south of Philadelphia.
Southern Phish fans surely welcome the band’s return to Virginia, a state which has produced epic Phish shows in the past, including one which was released in the 1999 six-CD live album Hampton Comes Alive. While Phish has not played in Richmond since 1994, the band has played in Hampton, Portsmouth and Charlottesville over the last 10 years.
