POLAND – A man in Poland is sharing the story of how he came to befriend and keep a pet squirrel.

Tadeusz Lubiarz told Poland’s TVN that he felt something fall in the forest while he was out walking his dogs.

Fearing the tiny squirrel the size of a “shoelace” would not survive, Lubiarz nursed him back to health, feeding him goats’ milk through a pipette.

Lubiarz said he named his new friend “Pitek” after the pipette of milk that began his recovery.

Pitek is free to leave and roam wild, Lubiarz added, “but he does not want to.”
