HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- A shotgun was swiped during a break-in on La France Road Tuesday evening.

Police flooded the street, and arrested the suspect’s wife, but her husband remained at large. But what they found in the car was even more concerning.

Police say the husband and wife team are linked to at least half-dozen break-ins in the area.

Around 5:30 Tuesday night, a car matching the description of the suspects’ car was seen on La France Road. Police say the husband bailed out, running toward the I-295 overpass.

The wife, Toni Casserly, was arrested and charged. Police say her two kids were also in the car. The husband's name is not being released at this time.

The Sandston man was still on the run late Tuesday. Police are asking those in the East End to report anyone suspicious.

Home break-ins

One Henrico family said they were hit by robbers on La France Road Tuesday.

"I mean, just knowing somebody that’s not supposed to be in your house, was in your house, man, is frightening," said the homeowner, who didn’t want to give his name.

Another neighbor hit by thieves said her window was smashed and her shotgun was stolen. She said the weapon has less monetary, but more sentimental value for her.

"My daughter’s husband died last summer and she gave it to Bobby for him to keep,” said Claudia Apperson.

She said she was stunned when she saw the wreckage.

"Definitely surprising,” said Apperson. “I was frightened to death.  I didn't know what was going on."

In a community with a majority of older residents, neighbors like Gary Ricker said it's time to tighten up and take care of each other.

“He'll get caught. He will," Ricker said. "We checked on everyone around here. We are a pretty tight neighborhood."

The Sandston man was still on the run late Tuesday. Police are asking those in the East End to report anyone suspicious.

If you have any information on these break-ins call Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
