RICHMOND, Va. – Onlookers rushed to the help of a woman and child trapped in a sedan downtown.
The accident happened just after 2 p.m. on Tuesday, at Franklin and 5th Streets.
Witnesses said that several vehicles were involved in the accident. The gold VW seen flipped upside in the pictures was impacted by a separate accident.
The VW was airborne, and it then rolled multiple times before coming to a stop upside down, witnesses said. Other cars nearby were damaged.
The occupants were transported to VCU Medical.
“Everybody came to help,” a witness said. “It was a child in the car and a mother bleeding, she was scared.”
Richmond Police are on scene investigating the crash.
Tow trucks have arrived on scene but for now travel on that block of Franklin Street is not allowed.
The driver of the Honda was charged with failure to yield.
