RICHMOND, Va. -- This week there will be multiple chances for precipitation and some scattered snow showers in Central Virginia.

Some light rain showers and a few wet snowflakes will be possible overnight Sunday into Monday morning for areas south and east of Richmond.

After some sunshine for the first part of Monday, an upper-level system will swing through late Monday into Tuesday.  A few rain showers will develop by Monday evening, with a change to snow showers overnight as colder air moves in.  Highs will be in the upper 40s and lows will be near freezing.

There will likely be some light snow or snow showers during the day Tuesday (possibly mixed with rain in a few spots, particularly east of I-95).  If we get enough snow to fall, some minor accumulations of a coating to an inch or so may occur.  The best chance of that will be north and west of Richmond.  Highs will be in the upper 30s to around 40°.

Some energy and moisture will be around for some flurries and light snow showers Wednesday and again on Thursday.  Accumulations, if any, will be very light.

Friday will be dry with highs around 40°, but colder air will return for next weekend.  Another cold front and disturbance could bring some flurries or snow showers late Friday night into Saturday.
